Gain Complete Asset Visibility in Minutes Leveraging Fortinet FortiGate

Despite having, on average, 25 IT management and security solutions, enterprise IT and cyber organizations still struggle to answer basic questions about the many assets deployed across their environment and most importantly what level of risk these assets pose to the business.

Armis has a rich set of API integrations to correlate, normalize and rationalize data to create a unified and authoritative source of truth for all assets.  One of the most compelling data sources to feed the Armis Asset Intelligence Engine is with Fortinet and specifically the FortiGate Next Generation Firewalls.

This integration allows joint customers to quickly build a complete and accurate asset inventory to assess their corporate risk posture. By leveraging the data packets traversing the FortiGate firewalls, the Armis platform can build an incredibly detailed live map of every asset, help joint customers understand technical debt, identify IT and Cyber gaps, assess vulnerabilities, active threats and more.

Furthermore, this integration is incredibly easy to deploy and simple to use: all it requires is a product configuration of under 10 minutes, all is done via web UIs.

US Hotel Group – Case Study

One of the many joint customers that has been able to leverage this integration is a popular, national hospitality & hotel group.

The Senior Network Engineer at the Hotel Group was concerned about potential risks introduced by both managed and unmanaged devices used by staff and guests across all hotel properties and wanted to gain a broader and deeper visibility into the entire enterprise environment.

“One of the problems we as a company were facing from a security standpoint was not having a view into what people were doing in our environment at the hotel level. We had a shade over our eyes, and we really didn’t know what they were up to.”

“Armis did a beautiful job of taking inventory of all the devices and assessing which were connected to our network. It only took us a matter of weeks to realize that the company needed to shore up our environment—and we’ve been putting Armis to work ever since,”

Prior to deploying Armis, the Hotel Group estimated that there were roughly 600 undetected unmanaged devices on the network, but Armis detected more than 4,000 iPads and other handheld devices, connecting to the network from across the nationwide hotel properties.

The integration between Armis and Fortinet was key for this organization’s security compliance. All “other” devices were detected because the hotel’s traffic was going through the FortiGate next generation firewalls and then via the integration, fed immediately into the Armis platform.
